About
Thank you for visiting my site and wanting to learn more about me and why I created this site.
I’m a husband and a dad and have needed to lose weight and get in shape for awhile, and I finally decided to do it. I created this site thinking that if I wrote about experiences, it might help others who in the same situation and in return I could benefit from the advice of others too. Starting in June of 2011 I joined Weight Watchers Online for Men, started exercising and began my journey to healthier living.
I’m also into photography. I started taking photos when I was 12 or 13 years old, way back before digital. I had a paper route at the time and saved up and bought a Pentax K1000. It was a great camera to learn on because it was full manual, so I had to set everything myself and couldn’t depend on the camera to do it for me. This gave me a great foundation on which to build, so when cameras started doing things automatically, I could go with what the camera wanted or switch to manual mode and have complete creative control. My favorite films were Kodachrome, Fuji Velvia and Fuji Provia.
I also like to have fun, and one of my favorite hobbies is geocaching. I read a magazine article about it in 2002 and thought it sounded like something I’d like to try. For those who don’t know what geocaching is, people use a GPS to location containers that are hidden all over the world. The containers vary in size from large (several gallons) to micro, which can be as small or smaller than a thimble and are hidden everywhere, from the woods, to the mountains, to urban areas in the center of large cities.
The great thing about caching is that it takes me to new and interesting areas, many with excellent photo opportunities, plus many caches require a lot of walking or hiking to get to, so I’m getting the added benefit of exercising while doing it.
